Welcome to the Home page of the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). The OIG was created in 1983 to provide independent oversight of the operations of the MTA and its constituent agencies, consisting of MTA New York City Transit (NYCT), MTA Long Island Rail Road (LIRR), MTA Metro-North Railroad (Metro-North), MTA Bridges and Tunnels (Bridges and Tunnels), and MTA Capital Construction Company (Capital Construction).
Barry Kluger was appointed Inspector General by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the State Senate. As Inspector General, Mr. Kluger reports to the Governor, the legislature and the public, and serves as an ex-officio member of the NYS Public Transportation Safety Board. The Inspector General is assisted in his work by a Management Advisory Board.
